Monday Musing
Late post..
A lot of crazy shit went down this year - Harambe (sorry, PETA), Muhammad Ali dying, Flynt's water crisis, Black Lives Matter taking off in momentum, and Donald Trump was elected President of the United Godforsaken States. That is still insane to hear aloud.
Mulatto. Democrat. Female. I don't exactly fit the demographic Trump was aiming for but I was unprepared for the amount of people who landed in his camp. "Unprepared" could easily be replaced with "horrified/revolted/paralyzed with trepidation". The KKK were given a second wind (I nearly missed 'em in my lifetime! What a treat), the embodiment of the American woman was put back into her 80's secretary ensemble, and it was re-instilled in each of us that America is for everyone except Muslims and Mexicans.
One thing that was particularly tough for me to digest was when facts stopped mattering. Rationality & logic quickly followed. 2016's current president-elect literally said, out loud, that he could "shoot someone in the face and people would still vote for him." To which his supporters agreed, out loud. Soon after the sexual accusations came flooding and 2011's All Access Hollywood video with Billy Bush was released in which Trump stated to a "hot mic" as they say in the biz', "You can grab [women] by the pussy - you can do whatever you want - if you are famous." Yeah, Billy Bush got fired for snickering douchily in the background. Donny J is now our president. Classy, America.
Not to brush past Mrs. Hillary Clinton and the smudge marks on her candidacy. She irresponsibly used a private server on her home computer for government communications, potentially breaching high level security. That sounds pretty bad. But what was found in the 600-thousand+ emails? Nothing incriminating or sinister. A lot of "Please print" requests because, apparently, Hillary Clinton has no computer skills.
In any other presidential election, that size of a scandal would have sunken Clinton, but when opposite reality star Donald Trump, it's apples to oranges. But maybe that is what middle America sees as a lesser evil. Is it easier to stomach an idiotic lunatic than a deeply entrenched politician who might jeopardize secret intel?
